Known for its cool climate and high rainfall, the Sonoma Coast AVA (Sonoma’s largest AVA) is an expansive appellation extending from San Pablo Bay to the border of Mendocino. Not surprisingly, pinot noir and chardonnay are the stars here, which benefit from the region’s cool temperatures and direct exposure to marine influences.

What We Did

Landon Patterson, owner and CEO of the Hundred Acre Group, is a big fan and advocate of our work. And we’re big fans of theirs – having worked with Landon and Jayson on the branding and website for Fortunate Son, their most exclusive wine collection.
Summer Dreams is another high-level winery on the Sonoma Coast in California. The land is a major part of their story – and the Earthly elements that bring life to their grapes are celebrated in this website, through video and design.

Video is the Star.

We worked closely with Lightspeed Films, the content producers behind the original visual assets for Summer Dreams. Beyond carefully and clearly directed the creative vision of the video element, and with both the client and Lightspeed Films, we nailed the concept. A celebration of the elements.
Summer, warmth, and the cycles of the sun; morning, noon and night. These themes were important, because each wine is named and themed around these elemental forces.
Golden Hour. Halley's Comet. Twilight.
These names inspired us to conceive a video for each one – so we didn’t have to tell users what they were about, we could show them. Beyond edited Lightspeed’s work with sourced video, to tell the story of each wine as its own unique persona.

Website Design, UX/UI and Ecommerce.

The website was designed to reflect quality, but also feel-good, summer vibes. This was a key goal for the group, whose work with Jayson Woodbridge has produced some of the most important wines of modern times. Capturing the feeling they want their customers to enjoy was how we’d be measured – and we’re confident that we achieved this for them.
But the UX and interface couldn’t suffer for the sake of vibes. We conducted a deep dive into usability and experience, finding snagging issues and bottlenecks – ensuring that users could find their way to wines they’d love.
And that involved creating a custom ecommerce integration; a digital storefront for Summer Dreams where users can sign up to acquire some of the world’s most exclusive wines. Security, stability and reliability are the cornerstones of a good ecommerce build – and our commitment to best web practices and using up-to-date technologies brought this vision to fruition.
A full, custom CMS implementation allows the team at Summer Dreams to update content, add products to the store, and effectively conduct their marketing in-house. But we’re not done telling the story of Summer Dreams…

Performance Marketing Campaign.

As part of the full-service experience we offer our clients, Summer Dreams selected ongoing performance marketing as part of their package. After a significant research phase, we tapped into tasting notes, flavour profiles and regional varieties – to target their online audience in search engines.
This supplementary marketing works in tandem with their internal team’s wider marketing strategy, helping them achieve their business goals, and adapting to the changing seasons. Although, as Landon would tell you – Summer is a State of Mind…
