What We Did

We have a longstanding relationship with The Fat Duck Group, having delivered design and web solutions for them since 2016. We’ve also worked with Hind's Head, another brand under the group.
Heston was celebrating 25 years of The Fat Duck – running 5 menus, each 60 pages long over the course of a couple of years, including seasonal and festive menus of around 40 pages long. We designed and delivered all of them.
In addition, we designed and built an immersive website experience, in our own signature style; showcasing the same attention to detail and craft as our client.

A Website Experience as Extra as the Food.

Dining is a multisensory experience. And we wanted this to come through in our work – because one of the keys to unlocking an incredible food experience is anticipation.
The website design phase leads with a clean, food-focused design – with splashes of immersive imagery and motion graphics. But as you journey through, a far more visceral and tantalising experience awaits. And with a few of our own signature, unexpected touches along the way, users are delighted all the way down.

Storytelling Through Design.

Heston’s food is magic that you can eat. It’s theatrical and whimsical, and transports diners into a different world, if only for the briefest moment. But the memory lives on forever – and we had to show this spectacle in action, without giving the whole game away…
So, as visitors progress through the website, it moves from functional and booking-focused, into an abstract and experimental world of culinary make-believe. It’s like slowly descending into Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory – with more and more of Heston’s character and personality creeping up the page.

With server-side rendering, hosting from Vercel, and a responsive design, The Fat Duck’s website just works; no matter what device it’s accessed on. It’s fast, reliable and fluid in use. This has driven bookings and lowered bounces, giving the group a boost in revenue generated through the website.
