Maison Roux
Alain Roux's whole house, filmed and brought together on one website.
Website design and build, two days of filming and a brand film for Maison Roux, the house of three-Michelin-star chef Alain Roux: The Waterside Inn, Brasserie Roux, the Alain Roux Culinary School and the Alain Roux Boutique.
The Waterside Inn in Bray has held three Michelin stars since 1985, and in 2010 it became the first restaurant outside France to keep three stars for 25 years. People know the restaurant. Fewer know the rest of Alain Roux's house: the brasserie, the cookery school and the shop.
So we spent two days filming it: Alain at the pass and over the flames, the dining room and the private dining room, roses in the garden, the terrace and the river from the water, cocktails at the bar, classes in the culinary school, Brasserie Roux and the boutique's shelves. We edited that footage into a brand film for the top of the website, a short reel for each venue, and more reels besides, cut in 4:5 for phones and social.
Then we designed and built the website around that film, so each part of the house gets its own chapter, its own reel and one clear way to book, learn or buy. maisonroux.co.uk launched on 27 October 2026.
The brief
Maison Roux had grown well past one restaurant. Beside The Waterside Inn there was now Brasserie Roux along the river, a culinary school in Michel Roux's former home and the Alain Roux Boutique. Each had its own website, but nothing joined them up or told the story behind them. Maison Roux needed one place that did, and it had to feel like walking through the Waterside's front door. We designed the site, filmed the house over two days to give it life, and built it.

One House on the Thames.
Most of Maison Roux sits on one short stretch of the Thames. The Waterside Inn is on the riverbank, with the Alain Roux Culinary School next door in Michel Roux's former home. Brasserie Roux is upstream by Maidenhead Bridge, and the Alain Roux Boutique sells what Alain chooses for guests to take home.
So the case study follows the river too. Each stop plays the reel we cut for it.
Two days on the Thames
Four venues and the water they share. Follow the boat, or pick a stop.

Brasserie Roux
Sunday roasts, soufflés and live music on Friday nights, on a terrace over the river.
Two Days in the Kitchen.
We filmed the house as it really runs: Alain plating at the pass, flames in the kitchen, the dining room and the private dining room, roses in the garden, guests on the terrace, the river from a boat, cocktails being mixed, a class in the school and Brasserie Roux in full swing.
We shot it, edited it in our studio, then cut the same footage for every place it was needed. Two days of filming became the film for the whole site, with plenty left for social.
What the two days became
- 01
Brand film
The opening of the website, in widescreen, reframed to 4:5 when a phone or tablet is held upright.
- 02
Four venue reels
Short, silent loops for The Waterside Inn, the Culinary School, Brasserie Roux and the Boutique.
- 03
More than the site uses
A library of short reels, most cut in 4:5, so they work as social posts as they are.
One film, every screen
The brand film opens the website. On a phone held upright, the site keeps the middle of the frame.
The whole frame, 16:9

Designed Around the Footage.
We designed the site around the film and built it ourselves, so what was designed is exactly what went live.
The site opens out of the Roux monogram into the film. Alain then welcomes you in his own words, and his signature draws itself under the story. Below that, each venue has its own chapter: its logo, its reel, a few lines on what makes it different, and one button to book, learn or buy. The Waterside's tab carries its three stars.
On a phone, every chapter is laid out again rather than shrunk: the logo, then the reel, then the words, with the rest one tap away.

Things to try
- 01Scroll past Alain's welcome
- 02Open each venue in Our Collection
- 03Watch each venue's reel
Fast, Even With All That Film.
The original film is close to a gigabyte, and the home page plays six videos. So the film streams at the right size for each screen instead of downloading in full, the venue reels are cut in 4:5 to suit phones, and pictures load only as they come into view.
We also set the site up so search engines and AI assistants can read it: structured data names Maison Roux as one house, with The Waterside Inn, Brasserie Roux, the Culinary School and the Boutique as its venues, each linked to its own site.
Maison Roux, Answered.
Who made the Maison Roux website?
Beyond, a design and film studio in Southampton. We designed and built maisonroux.co.uk, which launched in October 2026, and shot and edited its brand film and venue reels at The Waterside Inn, Brasserie Roux, the Alain Roux Culinary School and the Alain Roux Boutique in Bray.
Can one studio film a restaurant and build its website?
Yes, and it's better that way. For Maison Roux, the same studio planned the shoot, filmed it, edited it and designed the website, so every shot was taken for the place it would play. Two days of filming gave the site its brand film, a reel for each venue and more for social. See our film work.
Has Beyond worked with other three-Michelin-star chefs?
Yes. As well as Alain Roux, Beyond works with Heston Blumenthal at The Fat Duck, also in Bray, and Mark Birchall at Moor Hall in Lancashire. All three are three-Michelin-star chefs, and we've worked with The Fat Duck since 2016.
